ÉðÊ¿Âþ» (UA) will kick off the new academic year as "the Official University of the Cleveland Browns." This exclusive strategic partnership brings together a university rich in history and one of the NFL's most storied franchises, strengthening a multitude of opportunities for regional growth.
"This is a touchdown for both organizations," said R.J. Nemer, president of ÉðÊ¿Âþ». "Given the prominence of professional sports in our region and the comprehensive educational programs we offer at UA, we're creating a pipeline of talent and jobs that is of net benefit for our entire region and beyond."
The strategic partnership expands Cleveland Browns internship opportunities to students across various majors, providing hands-on, engaged learning to elevate the UA experience. This initiative will bridge classroom learning with professional practice in a distinctive manner.
"We are pleased to join forces with ÉðÊ¿Âþ» and use this partnership to expose students to possible education and career growth opportunities in the sports industry," said Haslam Sports Group Chief Human Resources Officer Michael Nikolaus. "One of our goals as an organization is to have an impact in the Northeast Ohio community and we look forward to witnessing this collaboration achieve its full potential."
The nature of this partnership will additionally allow ÉðÊ¿Âþ» to explore and introduce interdisciplinary academic programming with the Browns designed to jumpstart careers. By providing students with top-notch training and knowledge based on the expertise of the two partner entities, relevant career connections and preparation will be maximized. As part of this promise, for-credit special project courses will be co-created and offered by UA faculty and Browns professionals. These course collaborations will give students a one-of-a-kind forum to research, analyze, create and ultimately present their findings to Browns' personnel.
Reinforcing the shared commitment of the Browns and UA to create a positive impact on the community and region, the partnership will include a joint service project through the Browns Give Back Movement. That program is designed to encourage and help individuals make a difference in their community through volunteerism and inspiring others to do the same. ÉðÊ¿Âþ» excitedly joins the cause.
As an additional component of the agreement, select Browns personnel will be able to continue their education and enhance their skillsets through UA's vast educational offerings, including the University’s online degree programs.
In the coming weeks and months, the integrated partnership will be featured across Browns and UA channels - through events, digital content, social media, game-day coverage and more. Zips can expect events held at both Cleveland Browns Stadium and the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in Berea.
As the University of Akron's fall semester and the Cleveland Browns' first game are both on the August horizon, the new strategic partnership sets each organization up for its first win of the season.
