Named scholarships & funds

When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, ÉðÊ¿Âþ» is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at ÉðÊ¿Âþ», which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Kropf Endowed Scholarship in Engineering

The Kropf Endowed Scholarship in Engineering was established in 2013 by Mrs. Ashley Bell. Mrs. Bell graduated from ÉðÊ¿Âþ» in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Her personal experience in having to assume all of the costs for a higher education led to her appreciation for scholarships, without which she could not have completed her degree. Mrs. Bell’s paternal grandfather, Mr. Eugene Kropf, urged her to attend Akron because he respected the excellence of its academic program in preparing graduates. It is Mrs. Bell’s intent to honor her grandfather and her time at ÉðÊ¿Âþ» by providing a scholarship for future students.

The Kropf Endowed Scholarship in Engineering was established to assist students seeking a baccalaureate degree in engineering, with a preference for students majoring in mechanical or electrical engineering who have demonstrated financial need. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need by the College of Engineering Scholarship Office.
