Named scholarships & funds

When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, ÉðÊ¿Âþ» is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at ÉðÊ¿Âþ», which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Lee, Raymond K. and Sylvia L. B-STEM Experiential Education Fund

The Raymond K. and Sylvia L. Lee B-STEM Experiential Education Fund was established in June 2022 by University of Akron alumni Ray '79 and Sylvia '80, '09 Lee. The fund will support ÉðÊ¿Âþ» and the Lees' B-STEM middle school experiential education experience and outreach program. The goal of this initiative is to extend academic and experiential learning beyond middle school required curriculum.

Through ÉðÊ¿Âþ», The Raymond K. and Sylvia L. Lee B-STEM Experiential Education Fund will be used to strengthen and enhance Akron East Cluster Middle School and Akron Public Schools middle school students' education by increasing participation in experiential learning opportunities in business, science, technology, and math. B-STEM Experiential Education participants will engage in hands-on activities and develop professional competencies such as critical thinking, problem solving, and communication and leadership skills. Their experience also will include career readiness and management training, teamwork, digital technology, and global intercultural fluency to encourage them to continue their education beyond high school.
