Named scholarships & funds
When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, ÉðÊ¿Âþ» is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at ÉðÊ¿Âþ», which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Posilovich, Daniel Scholarship in Civil Engineering
The Daniel Posilovich Scholarship in Civil Engineering was originally established by Mr. Posilovich in 2002, and revised in 2019, in appreciation for scholarship assistance he received as a University of Akron undergraduate student. Mr. Posilovich, B.S.C.E. '76, credits his University education as a significant factor in his successful real estate development career. A native of New York, Mr. Posilovich came to ÉðÊ¿Âþ» via the Muehlstein Scholarship Program, which recruited talented young people from the New York City area to study at the University.
Mr. Posilovich says this generous scholarship made it possible for him to attain his degree. He wanted to share his gratitude by creating The Daniel Posilovich Scholarship in Civil Engineering to help students realize their goals and achieve their own successes.
The Daniel Posilovich Scholarship in Civil Engineering is to be awarded to junior and senior level civil engineering students. First consideration will be given to students pursuing careers in construction management. The scholarship is open to students in good academic standing in the College of Engineering. Scholarship candidates will be identified by the College and reviewed by Mr. Posilovich, with final recipient selection made by the College.
